White House Wages War On The Media

The White House is very serious about stopping leaks.

Just ask Karl.

Washington Post: White House Trains Efforts on Media Leaks
The Bush administration, seeking to limit leaks of classified information, has launched initiatives targeting journalists and their possible government sources. The efforts include several FBI probes, a polygraph investigation inside the CIA and a warning from the Justice Department that reporters could be prosecuted under espionage laws...

As the First Amendment states- "No entity may question, or expose, the wrongdoings or criminality of the Executive, unless they doth wish to be sent to the gallows. A press will be established, with limits, and provided with talking points to dissiminate to the populace. The right to Christianity is protected. Citizens may express support and praise for the Executive, but should otherwise question how their speech will impact the Executive and the ongoing War Effort. Gatherings must be limited to events authorized by the Executive. Please don't attempt to redress any grievances."

Glenn Greenwald analyzes the situation:
Bush's attacks on press freedoms escalate

It is so sad that the American populance cares more about the Oscars than the fact that their rights are eroding as we speak.

It is quite sad.

I watched "All The President's Men" yesterday before the awards... seeing how those two young journalists went after that own story even when their own paper didn't see the point and their own lives were threatened was inspiring, but sad. Sad because I cannot picture that happening today. The attention span of the media and country is so low, none want to pay attention to THIS administration to connect the dots of their criminality.

Some are paying attention, though, and let's hope they can make it stick.
